Meet the Teacher (and your New Friends) Night

Thursday, September 1st
from 5:00-7:00
promises to be a lot of fun!
All of the elementary classrooms will be open during those hours so that students and families can see the rooms and meet the teachers.  It also gives you the chance to drop off your suppliesread below for some pointers on supplies.

If you are in town, be sure to drop by for Meet the Teacher!

A Note About Supplies

Thank you to everyone who has been e-mailing me and letting me know that I have the right e-mail!   I love communicating with my families throughout the year.

The first grade list has had a few changes from last year.  I think most of the supplies are self-explanatory but I did want you to know what we will be using some of the materials for.  I am also requesting three items (a plastic magazine rack, another school box, and a deck of cards) that aren’t on the list.  Please see the pictures below.

Thank you so much!

Welcome Letter

Hello Fabulous First Grader,
Can you believe it’s almost time to come back to school? I am so excited about everything we will be learning this year!   The thing I most excited about, however, is to be your teacher!  It’s going to be a year filled with a lot of learning and many fun adventures.  I am thrilled that I will get to know all about you very soon!  I’m going to tell you a few things about myself.

When I was in first grade, just like you, I moved from Honolulu, Hawaii to Idaho City, Idaho.  After I graduated Boise high, I went to Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and received a degree in Child Psychology and a Master’s in Elementary Education.  Fun stuff!   I taught for 12 years in Washington State.   My family and I moved to Boise 10 years ago.  This is my 18th year teaching!  Wow-za!

Speaking of my family, I am married to a great guy named Jamison.   I have a son named Connor who is going into the 8th grade.  Last year, our family joined him as he played in the Little League World Series Regional tournament in San Bernadino, California.  Have you been watching any Little League Baseball on ESPN this week?   I LOVE baseball!   I also have two amazing daughters, Hannah and Emma.   Hannah is going into the 4th grade and is so much fun!   Emma is going to into 1st grade and is probably excited and nervous as you may be!

Here are a few of my favorites:
Favorite Color:  Pink
Favorite Season:  Fall
Favorite Food:   Fruit (ohand chocolate:) )
Favorite Sport:  Can you guess?  Yep, baseball!
Favorite Animal:  Puppies!
Favorite Hobby:  Reading about teaching

I hope that gives you a little bit of an idea about who I am!

Like I said before, I am so excited to get to know you.   We will be learning all about each other during the first few weeks of school.

If you went to our awesome school last year, you may remember me since I came in to do your Mad Minute tests on Fridays.  It was one of my favorite times of the week because I got to see all your sweet smiles.     You may also have heard that we learn French.   We do!   I was lucky enough to be an exchange student in France in both high school and college for a total of two years so I love to share my love of the language with you!   Our first word we will learn is “Bonjour”!  See if you can figure out what that means and tell me on the first day.

If you or your parents have ANY questions, please feel free to write to me and ask!   I love getting e-mails from the my students and their parents. My e-mail address is cchochrek@northstarcharter.org

See you soon,
Mrs. Chochrek  (pronounced: Chalk-wreck)

So happy to be your teacher!
